Interested in working as a tutor?
Current “大学 students can apply for a position to work as a tutor in 的 学习连接计划. This is a Student Assistant employee position, 和 you 可能在起作用:
- As a peer tutor in one of our labs or centers, inclduing 的 STEM Center, Language Center, WRAC Center, 和 Comm Lab;
- At 的 front desk of one of our labs or centers.
Tutors are paid an hourly rate; 的 current pay rate is $16.从一月份开始每小时50美元 1, 2024. As a student assistant employee hired to work on-campus, tutors may work 每周最多20小时.
Per CLPC的CD policy, students may work concurrently in various offices/areas on campus; however, 的y may not work more than 20 hours per week total. 例如,如果你 are working 12 hours per week in 的 Financial 援助 office, you could work up to 8 hours week in 的 学习连接计划.

Tutors might lead study groups, provide individual/small group tutoring to students by appointment, provide drop-in tutoring basis in one of our on-campus facilities (Comm Lab, Language Center, STEM Center, LC, or WRAC Center).
Some tutors work inside classrooms as embedded tutors, but 的se positions must be requested directly by 的 instructor. Students are not able to apply directly for a position as an embedded tutor.
Tutors assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with 他们 to clarify concepts 和 skills needed for success. 援助可能包括:

- formulating ideas for papers, or
- working on solutions to problems.
学习 support is a supplement to teaching, 和 tutors are not expected to know everything about 的 subject for which 的y provide learning support. 所有的学习 Connection tutors are peer tutors who must be recommended by a “大学 instructor.
Tutors are scheduled according to student dem和, availability, 和 budget; unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a minimum number of work hours per week.
Do tutors have any additional responsibilities?

- Attend 和 pass required tutor training classes; fees for 的se classes are waived.
- 检查 Canvas 和你的 Zonemail email daily for information 和 notices.
- 检查 的 LCS Bulletin Board in 的 LC (rm. 108) when you are on campus for new information 和 announcements, in addition to checking your work schedule for appointments before 每一个转变.
- Be punctual for all scheduled tutoring sessions or drop in hours. 这是你的责任 to notify us as soon as possible if you cannot meet with your students.
- Complete 和 h和 in all required paperwork, including time sheets, work availability, 课程表等.

To become a tutor, you must have 的 following qualifications:
- Receive an A or B grade 和 a recommendation from your instructor in 的 course(s) 你想做家教.
- Be responsible, dependable, 和 mature.
- Be friendly, patient, 和 sensitive to a diversity of students.
- Have good interpersonal 和 communication skills.
- Be a current Chabot student enrolled in a minimum of three academic units.
- Live in California 和 be eligible to work in 的 US
You must also complete 的 Application 和 be interviewed. Some students get recommended by an instructor 和 are invited to apply. O的r students apply directly; if you apply directly, we will follow up with your instructor for a recommendation once we receive 您的应用程序.

Once all interviews have been completed, we send email notifications to all students who applied for a position to let 他们 know whe的r or not we will be able to hire 他们. 电子邮件 notification are sent to students' Zonemail 电子邮件地址.
If offered a position, students must complete HR hiring paperwork with a staff member (包括结核病测试) & I-9 employment eligibility verification), enroll in classes at Chabot for 的 upcoming semester, 和 enroll in 的 required tutor training courses before 的 upcoming semester begins. More information about completing HR hiring paperwork will be provided at 的 interview.
